My father, Bill ROBERTS taught Maths at this school in the 1950s and 1960s. His great friends were Alec COLLINSON and Matt McGARVEY (then Headmaster), Ted McGUINNESS (photo below from 1968). I also remember him talking about Mr GALIA and Sister Gertrude. Edward Conway tells me: ‘this photo was taken down at the ‘Huts’ where he had his classroom (now a PC World I believe). Our class only went to the huts for art with Mrs AHMED.’ Edward also says: Mr Collinson was a wonderful teacher and my 2nd favourite; Mr Kelly being my favourite teacher. Sister Gertrude was a formidable individual and I was taken to task by her many times; however, she continued to ask my mother how I was doing for many years.
