Frank Goodman became headteacher after he returned from war service at the beginning of 1946 having been a class teacher there before he was called up. The school was evacuated to Farndon and surrounding villages - both Mr & Mrs Goodman went with the children. The farmer and his wife with whom the Goodmans stayed became life long friends.
