Chatsworth St ran between Wavertree Rd and Upper Parliament St, close to Lodge Lane. It was very close to Clint Rd Training College, and used as a practising school for Clarence St Pupil Teacher College as well.

The school closed in 1998, amalgamating with Earle Rd school to form Smithdown Primary (above).

The photos below were sent to me by Val GARNER. Her father, Joseph Francis MURPHY, is on both photos. On the 1917 photo, he is 2nd from the right on the 2nd row from the front.  On the 1919 photo he is 2nd from the left 2nd row from the front

Chatsworth St School was built at the junction of several roads, at the top of a hill. It looks down over Parliament St, Lodge Lane, Smithdown Rd, Earle Rd and Tunnel Rd. The school itself amalgamated with Earle Rd in the late 1990s, and is now called Smithdown Primary School.

Above: the school in 2006; below in the 1960s, from a similar angle.
