By 1883, Aspen Grove was listed as a Church of England school. Liverpool Record Office holds log books from this time. The school is not listed in the 1903 Directory, so it was still a Church of England School at that time. In 1911 Gores Directory, the school is listed at 87 Aspen Grove, a Higher Grade School. The LYTHAM family sent these reports in for Clifford (1911 - Headmaster Oscar BREWER, right) and Leslie (1914, Headmaster Charles MILLER, below right). Both were from the Boys’ School

Tony’s mother attended in the 1920s, when the Headteacher was J WALNE

Above: Geoff TAYLOR has sent me this photo of his Great Aunt, Elsie Minnie May TAYLOR, born 1894 who taught at Aspen Grove. Elsie lived with her family at 2 Lime Grove, Toxteth, until she was married in Jan 1914. She married William MURRAY in 1914 and unfortunately died in 1915, so Geoff reckons this photo dates from about 1913.
